Support for self-employed claiming Universal Credit

Low-earning self-employed claimants of Universal Credit will be able to access a free business mentoring service, the Department for Work and Pensions has announced.

Self-employed claimants who earn less than the 'minimum income floor' will be eligible for up to 12 weeks of mentoring support. Mentoring will cover a range of topics such as financial planning and marketing, as well as provide claimants with help to prepare a business development and growth plan.

Claimants with a viable business growth plan will be eligible for a further 12 months of business support.
