Get inspired at Venturefest East Midlands

Venturefest East Midlands has joined forces with Creative Quarter Nottingham for the Inspiration Hub at this year’s event. Creative businesses and entrepreneurs are invited to get inspired and take part in a number of sessions at the event, taking place at East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, on Tuesday 14 April.

One of the highlights of the day will be a presentation by Jonathan Smith, Co-Director at Game City, the brand new National Videogame Arcade in Nottingham. Jonathan is a BAFTA-winning videogame producer and director, having previously been Creative Director at LEGO. Jonathan will be discussing the gaming industry is his session “Everyone Should Play Games”, which is open to all delegates at Venturefest East Midlands.

Other highlights in the programme include an afternoon session with Smart Cookie titled “CGI, Holograms & Interactive Graphics Experience”. Smart Cookie’s owner started out in Nottingham’s Lace Market before expanding and they now operate as a creative lab filled with talented technicians producing world-class digital experiences. Having recently won a large contract to provide special effects for Disney, the session will provide a fascinating insight into their growth in the industry.

Delegates at Venturefest East Midlands can look forward to a day full of insightful sessions and networking opportunities, Other sessions in the Inspiration Hub will offer attendees the opportunity to hear from the Founder of Confetti Media Group, Craig Chettle, University of Nottingham’s Christopher Barnett discussing developments in computing, and Gesture Research who will be offering insight into working with Kinect technology and adding value to healthcare setting, retail environments and digital experiences.

There will also be an interactive workshop with Kidesign’s Dejan Mitrovich, which will enable the audience to experience their innovative 3-D printing product for printing an entire city.

Creative Quarter’s Chief Operations Officer, Kathy McArdle commented, “The Inspiration Hub at Venturefest East Midlands will be a hive of activity. We’re really pleased with the programme that’s been put together, which will provide delegates at the event with some fantastic insights to the creative industry.”
